Saleeha's Story
Saleeha was pregnant when her dad passed away and her mother was moved into a shared house that was unsuitable for the new mum-to-be.
"I went to the council but they rejected my application for homelessness assistance. I didn’t know what to do. I had no options. I still couldn’t find a job because no-one wanted to hire a pregnant person. I was really feeling down, I was depressed."
Worried that she’d have the baby and nowehere to stay, Saleeha called Crisis
"The Crisis team got the council’s decision overturned. I moved into temporary accommodation, but I didn’t feel safe. A man in the house really scared me. My lead worker, Hasina, helped me find somewhere more suitable.
I went into labour when I was viewing the place I’m in now. I had my baby one day, and signed the agreement the next. I’m so happy that I have a home now with my son. It means I can feel safe and secure, and that’s the main thing in life."
